In modern society, women have taken many positions once dominated by men and have successfully proved that they are equally qualified, if not better, in those position, like police and soldiers. However, the voice doubting female’s performance in those professions is still strong. In my opinion, women can be good police and solders.
Unarguably, females are in nature physically inferior to males in terms of strength and stamina. While facing ferocious enemies and desperados, well trained male police and solders are surely in advantage, as it usually means fierce and long time fighting. Moreover, many lethal weapons are very heavy. It requires its carriers to have strong physical power to make good use of it. Thus, in battle fields, it is males who possess more strength and stamina that win in the end.
However, as police and soldiers in modern society need to take more responsibilities, women can play an important role in these professions. Apart from physical power, police and soldiers also need intelligence and strategies either to win a war or to arrest criminals. Though physically inferior, women with qualified education can be equally competitive in making military plans, analyzing criminal psychology and cracking criminal cases.
Furthermore, in both police stations and armies, there are roles that women can perform better. When talking to criminals that are too young or too old, policewomen often can calm them down and win their trust. The effective communication is contributive to the solving of criminal cases. Also, a modern army needs doctors, nurses, psychological consultants, chefs, etc. In all these positions, women can give full play to their talents and strength.
In summary, although men and women are physically different, it is a stereotype that women are not suitable to work in police stations or military.
